Gift Giving Trees
Merchants, banks, medical facilities, manufacturers and commercial businesses throughout Chippewa County decorate Christmas trees with tags reflecting gift requests from applicants. Employees and customers purchase items and return to the Gift Tree site, where they are collected by the Spirit of Christmas (SOC) volunteers. Gifts are provided to applicants on Distribution day prior to Christmas. |
Sponsor a Family
Our Sponsored Families Program allows a family, club, business, individual, church, or other entity to sponsor a family, or families, by buying gifts for all members of that family.
SOC provides the sponsoring family with an identification number corresponding with the gift wishes of each family member they wish to sponsor. The unique number for the family provides anonymity for the families.
The sponsors purchase these gifts (SOC recommends $75 value per person) and return them on a designated day to Zion Methodist Church, plainly marked with the I.D. number of that family.
The sponsored family’s gifts are picked up on a different day that those gifts in the General Distribution. (90 to 100 families are usually sponsored each year).
